The 1967 Ford Mustang S-Code represents a fascinating era in American muscle car history. This model represents the pinnacle of performance and style that the Ford brand reached in the late 1960s. The S-Code was an option for the Ford Mustang GT and was equipped with a number of features that made it a desirable vehicle for car enthusiasts.

My GT390 rolled off the assembly line on June 2, 1967, four days late. On that day, “The Young Rascals” were the current number 1 hit (Hot 100) in the States with the single “Groovin”. Who knows if the workers sang along to that song that day as they made the Fastback?

After more than 2.5 years of searching, I was finally able to find my pony near Düsseldorf. During the first visit to our neighbors, the test drive was a complete failure because the alternator suddenly gave up the ghost. We had to push the Mustang out of intersections in the middle of Düsseldorf twice. At the second meeting everything went as planned and the contract was signed.

A newspaper report in the Garden City Telegram from December 8, 1990 testifies that this car has always been a “badass”. My Mustang (mentioned by name with VIN) was probably used in a drug crime: “…that the vehicle was allegedly used in violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act…». The newspaper clipping is listed below.

The heart of the 1967 Mustang S-Code was undoubtedly the powerful 390 cubic inch V8 engine. This powerful engine gave the vehicle impressive performance and made it one of the fastest production Mustangs of its time. Rated at around 320 horsepower, the S-Code Mustang was impressive not only on paper, but on the road as well.
